mac25’s first day at wordpress

me

Hello class! I’d just like to take a moment to tell you all a bit about my self. I’m a good natured guy, if anyone ever needs help or just a friend to talk to I’d be more then happy to talk with you, XD! I love 2D illustration. I usually start my illustrations by drawing a pencil sketch, then I import the sketch using a scanner or digital camera to Photoshop to digitally colour the illustration. This is my most recent illustration. I’m also a very active person. In the past I’ve enjoyed hockey and basketball but more recently I’ve been getting into weight lifting. I enjoy good food and evenings out with my friends. I look forward to getting to know all of you and my new friends at ECU!

  1. Hi mac25 I looked at your 2D illustration and I think its amazing. Ever since I got here Ive noticed there are so many things that Ive been missing out on and I would love to learn more about.(Such as your 2D illustrations)
So your most recent illustration was done first on paper by doing a pencil sketch and then play around with it in photoshop. I would love to see more of your illustrations and maybe you can teach me someday.

  2. ya. after the sketch is opened in photoshop i make it transparent and place it above all other layers. this allows you to be able to draw by hand or select an area to be filled that corresponds with your original sketch while still on the layer you are colouring and gives you the ability to see both layers at the same time. it’s also a very good idea to pick up a digital tablet if you are serious about digitally colouring illustrations. a tablet (if you don’t know) is a pen like device with a drawing platform. the combination of the two lets you draw directly on your illustration by hand and is a lot easier then using a mouse. it’s also pressure sensitive. which allows your lines to very in shade and size, just like drawing with pencil.

Oh my, I feel like I’m reading a personal ad. Anyway, the colouring in that picture is sweet. You’ve definitely got more photoshopping skills than me. I do do the same thing as you, by making my drawings a transparent top layer. That’s about all I do. By the way, were you replying to someone’s post with that response above? If you were, you might have to go to your dashboard and allow the person’s post to be seen, because I only see your responses.

  4. ya thx. i only saw that approve section after you mentioned it.

no i dont skateboard i did. So your comment the other day about not liking the given project, a series of composite images! i was thinking you might ,if you havn’t already, want to check out jeff walls work. hes a very famous vancouver photographer and most of his work consist of composite images.
We might not be able to impress you but he should…

  6. ya i find photo manipulation a cheap way to achieve an effect. i much rather an illustration or computer rendering, they’re much richer and all the angles, shadows and lighting line up the way the creator intended. plus i think it takes far more skill and dedication to illustrate rather then photo splice. but that’s just my opinion.

  7. hey :) thanks for taking the time to explain the project to me the other day. your illustration’s totally awesome. i’d love to see more of your work in the future.

  8. thank you and no problem. any time yu need help just ask… i might not always be able to but i’ll try XD
